A visit to Phoenix Children’s, whether planned or unplanned, can bring a lot of unknown changes. With medical procedures and treatment plans, your new “normal” might look a little different. We’re here to help patients and families adjust and thrive throughout your healthcare journey.
Welcome to Phoenix Children’s
We have many resources to support you before, during and after treatment at Phoenix Children’s. All new patients and families receive a Welcome Guide. Refer to your Welcome Guide for everything you need to know about your hospital stay and our services.
How Can We Help You?
If you have a question and aren’t sure where to start, talk to Social Work Services. You can ask a social worker anything, or discuss concerns – no matter how big or small.
Social Work Services can put you in touch with the right people and services. For example, you can ask about:
- Hospital resources, support and services
- Dining options
- Where to stay
- Places to read, meditate, relax or play
- Available media and resources to educate or entertain
- Local attractions and offerings for patients and families
- Where to find a security guard or report a concern
- Parking and how to get around town
School & Work Resources
School and work responsibilities don’t stop when your child is sick or sidelined by a medical condition. At Phoenix Children’s, we support kids and adults in many ways, including:
Complex care requires juggling schedules with staggered or same-day appointments. When you check in at the hospital, ask for a printed itinerary for your child and ways to make scheduling easier to manage.
Ask your doctor if you need any notes related to your child’s health needs and other accommodations.
Stay connected to your work or other needs. We provide tech assistance, work areas, office equipment, notary services and an age-appropriate tablet device in your child’s hospital room. Learn about internet access and how to use our phones.
Visit The Emily Center for a quiet space, multimedia resources and learning tools related to your child’s condition or another topic. Registered nurses are available to help.
Our school program helps kids from kindergarten through age 12 who are in the hospital for more than five days. Learn about 1 Darn Cool School.
