Trevor's Story

Saved by "Magec"

Since the age of six, Trevor has undergone 10 surgeries to correct his scoliosis. As he grew, rods placed on his spine to correct its shape had to be adjusted through surgery. Then his doctors at the Herbert J. Louis Center for Pediatric Orthopedics at Phoenix Children’s decided to try something new. They implanted a device on his spine called the Magec Rod. It allows the rods that correct his spine to be magnetically adjusted in a short clinic visit, reducing the amount of surgeries. Today, Trevor is spending less time in the operating room and doing more of what he loves.

Whether it's a sports-related injury or a life-threatening spinal abnormality, the teams at the Herbert J. Louis Center for Pediatric Orthopedics at Phoenix Children's is here to help. Our unique team is made up of a wide range of specialties and sub-specialties, combining their collective experience into a powerful force for healing and hope.
